Journey to National Best
The Journey to National Best is North Carolina's ongoing initiative to instill greater quality in our skilled nursing homes and prepare our facilities and services for the future. We are taking aggressive, deliberate steps to meet the demands and expectations of our long-term health care residents and families. To strengthen and transform NC nursing homes, we are focusing on the issues that make a positive difference in the lives of residents and the staff who care for them.
FutureCare NC
Created by the NC Health Care Facilities Association, FutureCare NC is a private educational and research foundation. This private, not-for-profit foundation will help guide our Journey to National Best initiative. It will also serve as the springboard for industry-wide efforts to bring the best technologies and programs to the skilled nursing care facilities of our state.
NC NOVA: New Organizational Vision Award
NC NOVA is a voluntary special license awarded to adult care homes, home care agencies and nursing facilities that meet rigorous workplace standards for their direct care workers. Created under a $1.2 million grant as a Better Jobs Better Care demonstration project, NC NOVA is the first program in the nation to reward long-term care providers for building a high-quality workforce.
Peer Review Meritorious Performer
The Peer Review Meritorious Performer Program recognizes health care facilities that excel in management practices. Developed by the NCHCFA Standards and Ethics Committee, this award program seeks to give long-term care leaders the structure for improving the quality of nursing home care.
Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes
NCHCFA supports Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes, a two-year campaign to improve the quality of care and quality of life for those living or recuperating in America's nursing homes. Launched in September 2006, the campaign represents an unprecedented coalition of stakeholders committed to improving long-term care.
